We met arch. Chavdar Chenkov at the Bourgas event of our tour in search of the Changemakers around the country. He identifies himself as a freelance man, likes to create buildings with a soul and to travel on difficult-to-reach destinations. He says he's a "little dreamer." Since returning to his hometown Bourgas, he has taken a lot of initiatives - he built a community center in a dilapidated village, volunteered for a foundation for personal development, collected gifts for children without parents in Sredets and is a regular blood donor.
Together with his friends he created HAMALOGIKA and for two consecutive years he organizes the live broadcast of TEDxBG. Around the events also the idea for "Burgas Recycle" was born and for five years now Chavdar has been running such campaigns. Meanwhile, he created his own architectural site, where he consults people from all over Bulgaria for free.
Arch. Chenkov is our interlocutor in another particularly pleasant conversation about the otherwise difficult topic of change:

How do you imagine the change? Where does it begin? What do we call success?
The change is anyone who believes that:
- things depend on us
- we must make efforts for a better life
- we have rights, responsibilities and obligations as part of civil society
It starts with the little good things we choose to do every day.
It continues with good initiatives that unite people, inspire hope and show that each of us is capable of provoking a positive change.
Success we call a critical mass of people who follow these ideas has accumulated.

How do the things you do fit into the "big picture"?
They are entered as a link from the chain, or if you prefer - as a piece of the puzzle. Each of us has part of this puzzle. I hope in 10 years to look back and realize that the people around me throw their garbage separately, that the city and the sea are cleaner that my fellow citizens are more responsible and smiling, so that there has been a change .

How often do you think about the big picture?
Often. It depends on what news I have read, with whom I have spoken, and how much I've been angry with.
The attainment you are most proud of (may be a little, and at first glance, we will understand)?
With the last building I designed, it is being built now. With "Hamamogika" and "Burgas Recycle". With the everyday moments "eureka" that make me smile.

The most important lesson you learned on the road here?
To say "no" to things that are insignificant. When something did not happen the way I had hoped, I would not always look for guilt in myself. One has to have a real idea of how and what it can affect.
Do you believe in miracles?
Yes. I believe, however, that miracles happen when we work for them.
