As implied by the title, "Dialogues on the Future" will focus on some of the most crucial (at least from today's point of view) questions about the future.
The conversation will be based on three (hypo)theses presented by: Lyubov Kostova - director of British Council Bulgaria, driving force behind the international success of the FameLab competition and co-founder of the Sofia Science Festival; the writer, translator and screenwriter Vladimir Poleganov, and Konstantin Vassilev, who has been involved in various aspects of the software development process for more than 22 years.
The topic of the first edition of "Dialogues on the Future" is related to assumptions or scenarios for the future.
The initial inspiration arises from the twelve scenarios (depending on the development of artificial intelligence) described by Max Tegmark in his book "Life 3.0: Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence". The three participants, together with the moderator Anton Gerunov, will offer their versions of the presumable future through different entrances of knowledge, science and literature.
Participants:
- Lyubov Kostova is the director of the British Council in Bulgaria. She grew up in Nigeria, has a Masters degree in Indian Philology and has translated more than 60 theatrical plays. Before the British Council, she worked for nine years at the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts. With a wealth of experience in public communications, Love is the driving force behind the international success of the FameLab competition and co-founder of the Sofia Festival of Science.
- Vladimir Pleganov is a writer, translator and screenwriter. Graduated in clinical psychology and creative writing at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He is the author of the collection of stories "Deconstruction of Thomas S." and the novel "The Other Dream". Interested in the strange and fantastic.
- Konstantin Vassilev has been involved in various aspects of the software development process for over 22 years. He played a role in setting up one of the largest software outsourcing companies in Bulgaria - WizCom, later purchased by the US giant VMWare. Тhen he became Technical Director of the Bulgarian company Tiger Technology, which manufactures and markets its systems for storing and sharing large volumes of data. Currently, Constantine is Engineering Director at Skyscanner, a global tourism portal, where machine learning is used to enhance different parts of the product and company.
Moderator:
Assoc. Prof. Anton Gerunov has considerable experience as a consultant in international data analysis and project manager. His expertise is related to information technology and the economy, and he is interested in the transformative power of the data. He is also co-founder of LogSentinel.
"Dialogues on the Future" is part of the ART MEETS program of MOVE.BG.
Central for its conceptual framework is the attempt of engaging people from different professional fields in a collective process and collaborative thinking; to discuss art in the context of digital culture, new technologies, environmental, urban and social reality.
