A new campaign of “My Bulgarian History”
"My Bulgarian History” – a project for genuine Bulgarian History - MOVE.BG
Believing that the objective interpretation of history is the way to find the truth about who we are, we created this project with the desire to discover what we can be proud of, and what lessons will continue on our common path forward. This project is about our common past, which aims to chart an independent and objective historical map of Bulgaria.
The site’s content is generated by sharing personal stories of visitors to the site associated with historical epochs, events and personalities.
The first stage of the project is dedicated to ‘Rakovski’ street in Sofia and Veliko Turnovo.
We chose these streets to start the project not only because of their intense history, but also because of the personality of Rakovski – an enlightener, democrat, leading his life with the ideal of the freedom of Bulgaria. As the father of the revolutionary movement and active engine of the Bulgarian Renaissance, his life and work embody his words, ‘Our liberty depends on us.’
His legacy is accepted by MOVE.BG as the ultimate aim of the project – to piece together the puzzle of the genuine history of Bulgaria, that history that hasn’t found a place in books or textbooks, and that provides the basis on which to gain a foothold for its realization of free citizens in Bulgaria and Europe.
Visitors to the site can share what they know about what happened:
Behind the façade of the buildings, on the sidewalks in front of the theater, in the halls of the Military club, or near the benches of Crystal. You can also find on the site trivia, or check your knowledge of history – for example where is the address of the famous Sarafideva house that was the ‘modern palace’ that sheltered the first builders of modern Bulgaria.
The next stages of the project will cover the whole map of Bulgaria and aims to collect and mark the history of Bulgaria worldwide. Our goal is to unite and archive popular little know historical facts of Bulgaria’s past to help create a kind of virtual museum of living human history as it is.
Together we write Bulgarian history.
