Bulgaria was the first from all European countries
Bulgaria was the first from all European countries that successfully collected the required signatures for supporting the European Civic Initiative for Media Pluralism. Over 14 000 people gave their vote to create a new European law that can oppose media concentration, unclear financial sources and other common challenges that the media faces in Europe.
As a strategic partner for this initiative in Bulgaria, MOVE.BG has contributed significantly by putting this hot topic of media freedom to a larger public debate and in this way we were able to unite not just experts, but also active citizens around common solutions, proposals and actions in order to find consensual binding results:
MOVE.BG will continue to develop its Media Pluralism Program
“During the EIMP MOVE.BG worked together with a wide range of experts, professional organizations and media representatives in order to organize, define and work together for a better media environment in Bulgaria and Europe. With this approach we’ve managed to put the problem of media freedom in the public spotlight and this was the foundation for the success of collecting all required signatures for Bulgaria. MOVE.BG will continue to develop its Media Pluralism Program in order to achieve our final goal – the implementation of administrative measures that will help us secure a transparent and supportive framework for the democratic development of our country’s media environment.” – Sasha Bezuhanova, founder of MOVE.BG.
