In view of the forthcoming European elections and the appointment of a new European leadership, it is important to engage in the public debate on the future directions of the EU as well as to discuss the forms and mechanisms of civil participation.
The publication “Law and order: justice in five steps” is already a fact. It is a result of the efforts of many people, personally engaged with reforming the judicial system in Bulgaria.
We will present it on July 12th (Tuesday) from 6.30pm at the “America for Bulgaria” hall (224 auditorium) at Sofia University. This is also our way to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the promulgation of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The publication is a logical continuation of the programme “Law and order: justice in five steps”. As a part of it we investigated the main problems that characterise the judicial system in Bulgaria and we looked for answers to the question how they could be overcome from a vast array of lawyers engaged with different aspects of the judicial system and its issues. The aim of the programme was to introduce the citizens with the main aspects of judicial reform and to stimulate their active participation towards its implementation.
In the reader you will find positions, analyses and potential solutions of the problems of the Bulgarian judiciary from people who are directly engaged with the functioning of the state of law – magistrates, lawyers, mediators, journalists, experts and law teachers. You will be able to meet and talk with some of them at the presentation of the publication. Those who will tell about their reasons to participate in the initiative are Asst. Professor PhD Christian Takoff, associative professor of Law at Sofia Univeristy St Kliment Ohridski and at St Cyril and St Methodius Univerisity of Veliko Turnovo, Rosen Bosev, a journalist at Kapital newspaper and Dimo Gospodinov, a lawyer and programme coordinator of “Law and Order: Justice in five steps”.
The publication is also available online at: https://move.bg/pravo-i-red.
We will be more than happy to see you on July 12th (Tuesday), at 6:30pm at the “America for Bulgaria” hall at Sofia University.
