Tipping Point
The past year has strengthened our conviction that Bulgaria is not a matter of choice, but rather a shared cause. The summer of 2013 was a tipping point in the modern history of our country. It marked the beginning of both separation and unity, hope and despair. Inspired by the awakened desire for change, we decided to go for uniting and establish MOVE.BG.
We have always believed that Bulgaria could be a place where every one of us is free, responsible and able to actively participate in the democratic process. For many of us last year highlighted the only way to do this is with our combined strength and energy between us.
Crossing Point
For 12 months already we have been bringing together experts and active citizens in dialogue and open debate to agree on solutions to help develop Bulgaria. Regardless of our differences, the values we share and our common desire for a better future are our focal point.
A better future and a better country would be one in which the supremacy of the rule of law guarantees that the fundamental rights of the citizens are respected and justice reigns in society. Driven by the pursuit of justice, we led the program ‘Bulgaria: A Matter of Choice,’ which addressed the need for a better electoral system for us Bulgarians.
Media support
Desiring freedom and informed choices and understanding the key role of the media in democracy, MOVE.BG supports the ‘European Citizens’ Initiative for Media Pluralism’ as an opportunity for citizens to participate directly in the transformation of European legislation to improve the media environment.
Bulgaria should start making progress towards development
Driven by the our quest towards transparency and our firm belief, that Bulgaria should no more merely survive, but should start making progress towards development, we started an open dialogue in search of a long-term economic strategy to restore the main drivers of growth, to once again make our country more attractive to investors and increase economic competitiveness by promoting Bulgaria’s export potential.
The positive image of Bulgaria in the EU
Guided by our belief in the European way of development for our country we led the ‘You Move Europe’ program in order to shift the focus to the positive image of Bulgaria in the EU and reconsider the active role we need to play on the European stage.
Driven by our sense of responsibility towards the future generations and the desire to create an environment in which each child’s talent is a guarantee for their happiness, MOVE.BG’s educational program focuses on promoting best practices as a means of coping with the negative trends and the weaknesses in the Bulgarian educational system.
Inspired by our conviction that it is only through common action that we can achieve tangible change, we keep going. And love is what unites us all – the love for the work that we have started together; and our love for Bulgaria.
Reference Point
A year on, looking back, we are fully aware of the depth of the problems in our ailing society, the difficulty of parting with illusions and the painful catharsis which started a year ago and changed us for the better. Ahead of us we see the road we must take together as a community – a pathway to open dialogue, joint efforts and integrity. And our reference point is our shared values that will lead us on.
