MOVE.BG has published a special report, summarizing the data from the survey.
MOVE.BG has launched a special coalition “Green Restart via Innovation” with the participation of leading organizations from the innovative ecosystem in the country. On June 4, the group sent an official open letter to the Bulgarian government calling for a green post-COVID-19 recovery, based on the EU Green Deal`s strategy. The initiative demands the government's support for modern, clean, and innovative solutions that will transform the Bulgarian economy into a green and healthy one and will create sustainable growth and new jobs via innovation. The letter is open for citizen's support via signing it online.
The initiative unites key stakeholders in the innovative and green ecosystem: business organizations of innovative companies, organizations engaged in the practical application of models for a circular economy, carbon neutrality and zero waste organizations that promote a green culture of life. The Coalition includes MOVE.BG along with BESCO - the Bulgarian Startup Association, Founder Institute Sofia, Sofia Startup, Junior Achievement Bulgaria, Zero Waste-Bulgaria, Institute Circular Economy, and the Bulgarian Center of Women in Technology (BCWT).
Green Restart
Recovery after COVID-19 is a challenge, but also an opportunity for the transformation of the Bulgarian economy into a green and innovative. This is in line with Europe's ambitious plan for a climate-neutral economy, the Green Deal, which should not be postponed, and Bulgaria should be part of these efforts, the “Green Restart via Innovation”`s members demand.
The Coalition offers the government concrete steps, which include analysis of trends in technological and green development, support for innovative companies developing advanced green products in Bulgaria, as well as the establishment of practices for living with respect for nature in people's daily lives.
“The coronavirus crisis opens horizons for a new type of development in Bulgaria. It is possible if, in line with the leading trends for technological and green development in the world, we create an environment for Bulgarian innovative companies meeting these standards to grow here, and together in this way we affirm in our society the culture of life and economy in harmony with nature," said Sasha Bezuhanova, founder of MOVE.BG.
"We need significant political acts and urgent economic reforms, as well as the commitment of avant-garde academic and business capacity to define and ensure the systematic implementation of such a strategic line of our country. Now is the time and I believe very much that we will take full advantage of the favorable historical circumstances."
The letter was sent to:
- the Council of Ministers;
- the Prime Minister;
- the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of EU funds and cohesion policy:
- the Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism;
- the Minister of Environment and Waters.
The Coalition is ready to assist in the implementation of those priorities in consultative formats with the government. Read the full letter here and sign it here!
