This year, we dedicate our agenda to the ideas and people who create solutions for sustainable living and economy with respect for nature using the tools and standards of the 21st century.
Environmental disasters in our country have become a daily occurrence. Dams drained for private use and unrehabilitated for years; rivers flowing with colors of the rainbow and carrying dead fish carcasses; fires destroying biological ecosystems for decades and no one identified as a perpetrator; the dirty air we breathe is only part of a year-old problem of lack of green policies in our country because of negligence and interests to the detriment of society.
The problem is not only Bulgarian. It is a global one and, in some places, far more severe. However, in Bulgaria, there is no sense of urgency, the one that unites the European leadership in a new Green Deal for the future and that puts the topic of restoring the balance of nature-business at the center of the Davos debate. For example, while Germany is spending € 54 billion to promote a greener lifestyle, Bulgaria is buying off its lack of actions by paying € 320 million in compensation for the generated carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Moreover, the voices of eco-activists are marginalized, and expert reports stay on the shelves of agencies only.
The good news is that despite lack of norms and stimuli, hundreds of people are self-organizing themselves in zero-waste communities across Bulgaria, they live with and promote that culture. Startup entrepreneurs are choosing to devote their time and talent to solutions addressing climate change challenges, while others create alternatives to plastic products. Brave scientists experiment with foods of the future alongside avant-garde artists who dedicate their work to green causes. Those are the people of Bulgaria who should be supported and encouraged to grow with their ideas in our country - to find solutions for Bulgaria and from Bulgaria to the world.
For more than six years, MOVE.BG is connecting innovators and people who are replicating the status quo. This year, we dedicate our agenda to the ideas and people who create solutions for sustainable living and economy with respect for nature using the tools and standards of the 21st century. We will provide a forum to scientists and entrepreneurs with brave ideas, will support the development of innovative businesses and initiatives for clean air and water, quality food, and circular economy. We will use all our channels to share leading global and local solutions to restore the lost balance between humankind and nature and continue to promote their integration into daily practices. This will be our contribution to the efforts of the many organizations and people working for our sustainable common future. Because we create our tomorrow together.
Change has its faces and decisions. We are on the move - to find and support them, and to take part in that process actively.
